I also spent some time trying to find tight black leggings and a funny belt with a skeleton on it. I confess that when first I made acquaintance with Charles Strickland I never for a moment recognized that there was in him anything out of the ordinary. Yet now few will be found to deny his greatness. I do not speak of that greatness which is achieved by the fortunate politician or the successful soldier; that is a quality which belongs to the place he occupies rather than to the man; and a change of circumstances reduces it to very small proportions. The Prime Minister out of office is seen, too often, to have been but a pompous rhetorician, and the General without an army is but the dull hero of a market town. The greatness of Charles Strickland was authentic. It may be that you do not like his art, but at all events you can hardly refuse it the tribute of your interest. He disturbs and arrests. The time has passed when everyone laughed at him, and it is no longer a mark of eccentricity to defend him. His faults are accepted as the necessary complement to his merits. It is still possible to discuss his place in art but one thing can never be doubtful, and that is that he had genius.

Слово spelling образовано от глагола to spell — «произносить по буквам». А bee не имеет никакого отношения к пчелам. Это старинное название совместной работы группы людей. Например, в 1769 в печати упоминали spinning bee (совместное прядение), в 1836 — logging bee (совместную вырубку леса). В тесте много калек с русского или неточный перевод.
1. Package — это посылка. Для каждого предоставленного варианта русского слова в английском есть свое слово.
2. Unfortunately, I did not enter the first course this year — никто так не говорит, это русское выражение с заменой каждого слова на английское. Нет такого понятия как первый курс — курс это русское название, ничего общего с созвучным «course» не имеющее. Правильная фраза на английском «Unfortunately, I was not accepted to university/college this year» или «I didn’t get into college». «Course» — это или направление «ship’s course», или череда событий «course of actions», или смена блюд в ресторане «main course, second course, desert». Первый курс института = «freshman year» или «first year».
3. Truce скорее перемирие, чем затишье. Слова похожие, но немного другой смысл.
4. «Но тогда у меня вообще не было проблем.» =» But then I didn’t have problems at all» и никак иначе.
Так что тест корявенький. Лучшая школа языка это общение на нем.

Прикольно:3 только иногда слова имеют несколько значений и как по мне стоит их писать в скобочках:) например «Wish» может переводится не только как пожелание:з а еще как желание, стремление, воля в некоторых случаях, но так бывает редко:3 мне понравилось
